Naomi stared at the stack of unpaid bills on her dining table, her eyes cloudy with tears. Rent was overdue, her children’s school fees had piled up and her shop had been closed for three weeks due to lack of stock. Every attempt to borrow money had failed. Friends avoided her calls and the banks had stopped responding. The weight of debt pressed down on her chest like a heavy rock.
She had always been a woman of faith, active in her church, singing in the choir and encouraging others but now, she felt as if God had gone silent.
One night, after putting her children to bed, Chioma collapsed on the floor in her tiny living room. “Lord,” she cried, “I have nothing left. If You don’t help me, I’m finished. Even now, I trust You. You are Jehovah Jireh, my Provider.” She poured her heart out in prayer until she fell asleep on the floor, exhausted but slightly relieved.
The next morning, she woke to a message on her phone from a woman she barely knew, an older customer who had once bought dresses from her shop.
“Naomi, I don’t know why you came to my mind all night, but God laid it in my heart to bless you. I’m sending you something. I hope it helps.” Within an hour, she received a credit alert. It was enough to clear her rent, pay off the school fees and even restock her shop. She fell to her knees in disbelief, weeping, not tears of sorrow, but of pure joy.
In less than a week, her shop reopened. Sales picked up unexpectedly. More people began to patronize her business and within three months, every single debt was paid off. No calls from creditors. No sleepless nights.
During testimony time at church, she stood confidently before the congregation.
“I was drowning in debt and shame,” she said. “But God heard me. I didn’t have anyone to run to, but He showed me He is more than enough. I am standing here today completely debt-free, not by power, not by might, but by His Spirit. If God could do it for me, He will do it for you.”
