A fresh debate is brewing in Nigeria’s religious landscape as Faith and Freedom Africa (FFA) has called on the government to grant equal recognition to African traditional religions, just as it does with Christianity and Islam.

Speaking at a one-day colloquium in Makurdi, the group questioned why indigenous beliefs are consistently sidelined despite being deeply rooted in the country’s culture and history.

The FFA argued that true religious plurality can only exist when every faith is treated without bias, stressing that sidelining traditional religions undermines Nigeria’s diversity and marginalizes millions of adherents.
