Nigerian States IGR Grew By Almost 50% In The Past Year
The Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Nigeria’s 36 states and its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) jumped 49.7% year-on-year from N2.43 trillion in 2023 to N3.63 trillion in 2024.
From the recently released National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) 2024 IGR report, these 3 states recorded the highest IGR figures:
Lagos: N1.26 trillion
Rivers: N317.30 billion
FCT: N282.36 billion
On the opposite end of the spectrum were these 3 states with the lowest IGR:
Yobe: N11.08 billion
Ebonyi: N13.18 billion
Kebbi: N16.97 billion.
Also, out of the year 2024 total 3.63 trillion IGR collected, 73.35% came from taxes.
