Dauda Lawal, governor of Zamfara, says his administration will not negotiate with bandits but will continue supporting military operations against criminal groups operating in the state.
Represented by Mukhtar Musa, his chief of staff, Lawal spoke on Sunday at the inauguration of the secretariat of the Association of Zamfara State Indigenes Residing in Kaduna, where he said those willing to surrender should do so or face the law while speaking on Sunday
“The governor will never negotiate with bandits. Those willing to surrender should do so or face the law,” Musa said.
He said the Zamfara government would continue collaborating with security agencies by providing logistics, equipment, ammunition and other operational support to tackle insecurity.
Musa added that military operations against bandits would continue until peace is restored across the state.
He urged residents to support security agencies with credible intelligence, saying information from communities remains critical to the fight against banditry.
Musa also announced a N5 million donation from the Zamfara government to support the association’s activities.
