A Nigerian businessman based in China, Tochukwu Harrison Mmaduboallor, has accused popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan (VDM), of jeopardizing the livelihood of Igbo traders by allegedly revealing confidential trade networks in his recent videos. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Allegations of Trade Secret Exposure

In a video shared online, Tochukwu criticized VDM for disclosing sensitive business information that could potentially harm Igbo entrepreneurs operating in China. He claimed that the influencer’s attempt to help Nigerians access cheaper goods directly from Chinese factories could undermine the long-standing business models many Igbo traders depend on.

“VeryDarkMan will render many Igbo youths in China useless, all in the name of helping Nigerians import goods cheaper,” Tochukwu said. “Business is all about secrecy. Real businessmen don’t introduce their suppliers to their customers.”

According to him, supplier confidentiality is crucial for sustaining profits, and revealing such information could lead to financial losses and increased competition.

Potential Threat to Igbo Economic Influence

Tochukwu further warned that VDM’s approach might unintentionally weaken the economic dominance of Igbo traders in China. He emphasized that Igbo businessmen have built strong trade links over the years through perseverance, secrecy, and trust.

He noted that many traders spend over ₦2 million on travel and endure difficult living conditions abroad just to maintain their businesses.

“Some of us sleep on the streets just to make sure our trade survives. These sacrifices and the secrecy behind our supplier networks are what keep us going,” Tochukwu added.

He expressed fears that connecting Nigerian buyers directly with Chinese suppliers could disrupt existing trade relationships and reduce the competitive edge that Igbo traders currently enjoy.

Concerns Over Igbo Dominance in Trade

Tochukwu concluded by stating that the Igbo community holds a leading position in Nigeria’s trade relationship with China, far ahead of other ethnic groups. He cautioned that VDM’s exposure of trade routes and supplier details could destabilize a system that has sustained countless families for decades.

While VeryDarkMan’s videos aim to promote transparency and economic empowerment for Nigerians, Tochukwu urged influencers to understand the complex dynamics of global trade before publicizing sensitive information that could affect livelihoods.
