Zulum Gifts House To Anambra Nurse Who Served In Borno For Over 20 Years

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has honored Mrs. Marbel Ijeoma Duaka, a dedicated health worker from Anambra State, with a fully furnished two-bedroom house for her unwavering service during the Boko Haram insurgency.

The award ceremony took place on Tuesday, October 7, at the Mafa Local Government Area, where Governor Zulum commended Mrs. Duaka’s resilience and commitment to her profession.
Recognizing Dedication Amid Crisis

Governor Zulum highlighted Mrs. Duaka’s remarkable dedication at the Mafa Primary Healthcare Centre, noting that she had served over 24 years without abandoning her post, even during periods of extreme insecurity.

“During the Boko Haram crisis, most people fled, but she stayed throughout despite being a non-indigene. She has been working here for over 24 years and has never left Mafa for a single month,” Zulum said.

He further praised her for personally impacting his family, mentioning that she had treated several relatives, including his mother. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Additional Recognition for Mrs. Duaka’s Family

In a gesture of gratitude for her service, Governor Zulum also announced automatic employment for Mrs. Duaka’s son, Anthony, a Banking and Finance graduate from Kashim Ibrahim University, Maiduguri. The move acknowledges the family’s dedication and sacrifices for the welfare of Borno State residents.

Mrs. Duaka’s story has become a symbol of loyalty, courage, and compassion, inspiring many Nigerians with her commitment to healthcare in the face of adversity.
