Chaos broke out today, September 18, 2025, at the Tejuosho Shopping Complex in Yaba, Lagos State, after police fired teargas to disperse traders protesting over lack of electricity.

During the unrest, a young lady collapsed and fainted. She was quickly carried away by a young man, but her current condition is still unknown.

The traders said they have been without power for weeks, yet the management of the complex continues to collect monthly service charges and electricity bills. They accused the management of exploiting them while failing to provide basic electricity supply.

This is not the first time the issue has come up. Traders at the complex have long complained about poor power supply and high electricity costs. A past report in 2022 quoted the developer, Fajana, saying that traders were required to pay for generator use and electricity bills to cover periods without grid power. Many believe this unresolved matter is part of what sparked the current protests.
