The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) says trading activity increased in volume during the week, with investors exchanging 5.35 billion shares valued at N139.05 billion in 261,869 deals.
The record represents a 4.7 percent increase in volume from the 5.11 billion shares traded in 285,223 deals last week, according to NGX’s weekly market report.
However, the value of transactions fell sharply by 65.6 percent, from N404.76 billion recorded in the previous week.
The report also shows that the NGX all-share index and market capitalisation appreciated by 0.12 percent to close at 245,573.6 points and N158.513 trillion, respectively.

TOP SECTORS OF THE WEEK
The financial services industry, measured by volume, led the activity chart with 3.46 billion shares valued at N73.01 billion traded in 117,509 deals.
The sector accounted for 64.73 percent of the total equity turnover volume and 52.51 percent of the total value traded during the week.
The oil and gas industry followed with 1.02 billion shares worth N18.9 billion exchanged in 17,680 deals.
The ICT industry ranked third, with a turnover of 232.36 million shares valued at N14.62 billion in 31,866 deals.
TOP EQUITIES
The bourse said the three most active equities by volume were Japaul Gold & Ventures Plc, Fortis Global Insurance Plc, and FCMB Group Plc.
The three companies accounted for 2.56 billion shares worth N14.17 billion in 6,645 deals.
The NGX said the three equities jointly contributed 47.8 percent of the total equity turnover volume and 10.19 percent of the total value traded during the week.
TOP GAINERS OF THE WEEK
Ava Capital Plc led the gainers’ chart, rising from N8.25 to N11, representing a 33.33 percent increase.
It was followed by FCMB Group Plc, whose share price rose from N11.45 to N12.95, gaining 13.1 percent.
First HoldCo Plc ranked third, appreciating from N129.55 to N145.4, representing a 12.23 percent gain.
Fortis Global Insurance Plc gained 11.11 percent, rising from N2.34 to N2.6; while Linkage Assurance Plc increased by 10.63 percent, from N1.60 to N1.77.
TOP LOSERS OF THE WEEK
Thomas Wyatt Nigeria Plc recorded the biggest decline during the week, falling from N4.38 to N3.21, representing a 26.71 percent loss.
Trans-Nationwide Express Plc followed, declining by 23.76 percent from N2.82 to N2.15.
Also, Critical Minerals Financing Corp Plc share price dropped by 22.68 percent, from N3.88 to N3.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated fell by 18.94 percent, from N88.95 to N72.10.
The NGX added that Consolidated Hallmark Holdings Plc declined 16.51 percent, from N8.36 to N6.98.
