Recall that I recently briefed His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the progress recorded on the Kaa–Ataba Bridge and other legacy projects being executed by the Commission, with a commitment to commission them in commemoration of the third anniversary of his administration.

Yesterday, May 6, 2026, my team undertook an inspection visit to the project site, and I must express my satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the 1.2-kilometre Kaa–Ataba Bridge linking Khana Local Government Area and Andoni Local Government Area in Rivers State. This landmark project, being undertaken by the Niger Delta Development Commission, is steadily taking shape despite some environmental challenges.

Although the contractor informed us that irregular tidal waves affected the movement of construction materials to the site and slowed the process of crossing the remaining beams on the bridge, he has assured us that measures are being put in place to mitigate the impact of the adverse weather conditions responsible for the delays.

We remain confident that upon completion, the bridge will significantly improve the quality of life of the people of Kaa and Ataba communities, while also enhancing the transportation of farm produce, goods, and services from these agriculturally rich areas to neighbouring communities and markets.
