The federal high court of Nigeria will begin its annual vacation on July 28, according to Chief Judge John Terhemba Tsoho.

In a circular issued in Abuja, Tsoho stated that the break was in accordance with Order 46, Rule 4(d) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019.

The vacation will run from Monday, July 28, to Tuesday, September 16, 2025, with formal court sittings scheduled to resume on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

In a statement issued on his behalf by Catherine Oby Christopher, the court’s director of information, the Chief Judge said the vacation would give judges adequate rest ahead of the new legal year.

Only cases of extreme urgency will be entertained during this period, and only in the three core judicial divisions of the court — Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt.

According to the circular, the Abuja Division will have Justices Emeka Nwite and Mohammed Liman presiding over urgent matters.

In Lagos, Justices Isaac Dehinde Dipeolu and Musa Kakaki will sit as vacation judges, while Justices P. M. Ayua and A. T. Mohammed will serve in Port Harcourt.

The chief judge wished his colleagues a restful and productive vacation.
