Professors to get ₦140k monthly allowance - Education Minister.

The Federal Government has approved a new allowance package for Nigerian university lecturers following an agreement with ASUU.

• Professors: ₦140,000 monthly (₦1.74m annually)

• Readers: ₦70,000 monthly (₦840,000 annually)

• Includes a 40% salary increase for lecturers

• New structure takes effect from January 1, 2026

This is part of the revised ASUU salary structure aimed at improving staff welfare in public universities.
