The Nigerian Army announced that troops rescued Reverend Ephraim Yakubu after a brief gun battle with his captors in the Miango area of Bassa Local Government, Plateau State. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the clergyman had been seized on 3 December 2025 while standing in front of his home in Agingi Village, along Rukuba Road .

During a clearance patrol on the high ground of Miango on 4 December at about 07:40 a.m., soldiers engaged the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee . Reverend Yakubu was discovered tied beneath a rock, showing signs of injury, and was promptly taken to the 3 Division Military Specialist Hospital for treatment .

At the scene, troops recovered a fabricated rifle with an eight‑round 9 mm magazine 12. The army says it is continuing efforts to locate and arrest the escaping kidnappers.
