In a decisive move to combat the environmental degradation threatening some communities, Senator Orji Kalu has personally inspected the ongoing erosion control project currently being executed as a Federal Government intervention in the Abia North Senatorial District.

‎Kalu, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC), conducted the assessment to ensure that the contractor handling the project delivers quality work with the utmost speed.

‎Senator Kalu emphasized the critical importance of the initiative, noting that the gully erosion site had become a major threat to the safety and livelihood of residents.
‎
‎"This project is very important to our people because the gully erosion has continued to threaten homes, roads, lives, and properties in the area," Kalu stated during the inspection. "I will not fold my arms and watch our communities suffer when solutions are possible."

‎The former governor explained that his oversight visit was aimed at ensuring the contractor adheres strictly to the stipulated standards, providing the community with a durable solution to the seasonal disasters that have plagued the region.

‎The Senator extended his gratitude to the leader of the federation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving the intervention, which he described as a proof to the administration's commitment to the welfare of citizens in the South-East.

‎"I appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving this intervention, and I assure our people that I will continue to use my legislative position to attract more projects that will protect lives, restore infrastructure, and improve the well-being of our communities in Abia North," Kalu added.

‎Residents of the affected communities have expressed hope that the project, once completed, will end the years of anxiety caused by the advancing erosion.
