Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Monday visited the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North following a deadly attack that has left residents in shock and mourning.

The governor arrived at the scene under heavy security, reportedly in an armored vehicle, highlighting the tense situation in the area after the incident.

According to the police, at least 14 people were confirmed dead after gunmen stormed the community on Sunday night, although other reports suggest the casualty figure may be higher as investigations continue.

Eyewitness accounts say the attackers invaded the area in the evening, opening fire on residents and causing panic, injuries, and destruction of property. Security operatives were later deployed to restore calm and begin a search for those responsible.

During his visit, Governor Mutfwang met with affected residents and expressed condolences to families who lost loved ones. He assured the community that the government is working closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent further violence.

In response to the attack, the Plateau State Government also imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area to contain the situation and maintain order.

The incident is another reminder of the ongoing security challenges in parts of Plateau State, where communities have continued to call for stronger protection and lasting solutions to recurring violence.
