You finish school, your NYSC posting comes out, and you’re probably excited because you’re about to start a new chapter. Your family is happy for you, your friends are wishing you safe travels, and you’re already thinking about camp.

Then you hear that 20 prospective corps members travelling from Oyo State were reportedly abducted in Imo.

Honestly, this is scary. These are young people who are simply trying to serve their country. Nobody should have to worry about losing their life or being kidnapped just because they are travelling to orientation camp.

NYSC is meant to bring young Nigerians together, but their safety should come first.
