During the ULSU inauguration on Tuesday, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ogunsola announced a take-off grant for the new union.

At the swearing-in of the first Students' Union in ten years on March 24, UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Prof. Folasade Ogunsola didn't just offer words; she provided a ₦5 million take-off grant. The funds are intended to help the Bolaji Akinpelu-led executive establish administrative structures, launch student welfare initiatives, and prove that the "Renaissance Administration" can manage resources effectively without reverting to the conflicts of the past.

She also confirmed the provision of a temporary office space and the refurbishment of a dedicated 18-seater bus to ensure the student leaders have the mobility and resources to serve the Akoka community effectively.

The atmosphere at Tayo Aderinokun Hall on Tuesday was electric. Students were seen taking "selfies with the President" as Bolaji Akinpelu and his team were sworn in. There was alot of chatter about the ₦5 million take-off grant. Students are already tagging the new executives on social media, asking for immediate improvements to the campus shuttle system and more "student-friendly" social events before the second semester starts.

The Sabo DPO, CSP Comfort Alabi, didn't mince words at the event, warning the new leaders that "unionism isn't a license for cultism."
