UNIOSUN First International Conference...

Osun State University (UNIOSUN) is set to host a landmark event that is currently generating significant interest across the Nigerian academic and health sectors. The Department of Public Health is proudly presenting the 1st International Conference on Public Health and Wellbeing (ICPHW-2026), scheduled to take place on March 30th and 31st, 2026. This inaugural conference marks a major step in the university's mission to become a global hub for medical and health research, especially following the recent full accreditation of its medical program.

The theme for this maiden edition is "Harnessing Technology and Innovations in the Multidisciplinarity of Public Health." This focus reflects the urgent need for African health systems to integrate digital solutions, data science, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to solve modern health challenges. The event will be held at the Olagunsoye Oyinlola Auditorium on the university's Main Campus in Osogbo, serving as a physical and virtual gathering point for leading academics, researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers from across Africa and beyond.

Attendees can expect a rich lineup of speakers, featuring distinguished keynote and guest experts from Nigeria, Ghana, and various international health institutions. The sessions are designed to cover a broad spectrum of critical topics, including cutting-edge public health innovations, evidence-based policy discussions, and workshops aimed at capacity building for both students and seasoned professionals. The organizers have emphasized that the conference is not just an academic exercise but a strategic platform for networking and forming partnerships that could lead to transformative healthcare initiatives in the Global South.

For UNIOSUN, the ICPHW-2026 is a statement of intent. Coming on the heels of the university’s recent praise from the House of Representatives for financial transparency and the recognition of its alumni by UNESCO, the conference further cements the institution’s rising profile. It provides a unique opportunity for students to engage with global health leaders, fostering a new generation of health innovators equipped to handle the complexities of the 21st-century public health landscape.
