The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has reached a landmark agreement with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA), United Kingdom, to foster global excellence in practice-based education, research, and institutional exchange. The partnership was officially formalised during a high-level visit to the UK by a delegation led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Dr. Olanrewaju Tejuoso, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi.
This strategic collaboration is specifically designed to enhance the University’s capacity in modern communication and media studies. Key areas of focus for joint research and academic development include Broadcasting, Film, and Multimedia Studies; Journalism and Global Communication; and Digital Marketing and Social Media Trends. The agreement aims to provide global opportunities for both staff and students, positioning UNIABUJA as a leader in creative education within the African sub-region.
The framework for this sustainable academic linkage outlines several robust initiatives. This includes a student exchange programme that will allow UNIABUJA students to participate in study-abroad opportunities at UCA’s UK campuses. Furthermore, the agreement facilitates professional exchange through reciprocal visits for academic and administrative staff to share best practices, as well as regular high-level institutional visits to strengthen bilateral ties.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi described the initiative as a major step in the University’s drive to become a globally competitive institution. He emphasized that the partnership ensures UNIABUJA graduates are equipped with international perspectives and cutting-edge skills necessary for success in the rapidly evolving global creative industries.
