CDS Beyond Community Service

How to Make Your Activities Count

For many corps members, CDS is simply that day you have to attend because attendance is required.

But what if you looked at it differently?

Community Development Service is more than signing attendance sheets and taking pictures with your CDS group. It is an opportunity to use your skills, ideas and time to make a real difference in your host community.

Maybe you're good at teaching, healthcare, technology, media, business, agriculture or even organising people. There may be a way to turn that skill into something useful for the community.

And here's the interesting part: your CDS experience can also become part of your personal story after NYSC.

A project you helped organise, a skill you taught, a community problem you helped solve or even a campaign you participated in could become something you proudly add to your CV or talk about during an interview.

So instead of asking, “How can I just finish CDS?”

Ask yourself:

“What can I actually contribute before my service year ends?”

Let's hear from you!

What is one thing you have learned or gained from your CDS experience so far?
