Apart from the federal ₦77,000 monthly allowance, some states and local governments provide additional financial support to corps members.

Here are some reported examples:

- Abia: Up to ₦50,000, depending on eligibility.

- Adamawa: ₦30,000 monthly.

- Akwa Ibom: ₦20,000 monthly.

- Ebonyi: ₦30,000 monthly.

- Kebbi: ₦10,000 monthly.

- Ogun: ₦50,000 one-time support for eligible 2026 Batch C Stream I corps members.

- Urue-Offong/Oruko LGA, Akwa Ibom: Additional ₦20,000 monthly for corps members serving in the area.

It was my birthday when a delivery rider came to drop off my order. While waiting for his payment alert, he overheard someone wishing me a happy birthday. He asked, “Boss, na today be your birthday?” I said yes, and he jokingly asked for cake. I told him there was no cake, but I had food, so I invited him inside to eat.

‎While we were eating, he told me how difficult life was as a dispatch rider. After our conversation, he asked what phone I was using. I told him, and he simply smiled and said, “You be boss oh.” I thought that was the end of it, but later that evening, he came back with a brand-new screen guard and phone case for my phone.

‎He told me it was the only birthday gift he could afford to give me. Honestly, I was speechless. After he left, I couldn't stop myself from shedding a few tears. Sometimes, the smallest gifts mean the most when they come from someone who genuinely wanted to make you happy.

The most painful or difficult experience students face in university. 👀🎓

‎I dated a man in Ibadan for over a year, and throughout our relationship, there was one woman abroad who always made me uncomfortable. He insisted they were just friends and that she was helping him with business connections, so I chose to trust him. He eventually proposed, and our families even had an introduction ceremony.

‎

‎But six months later, there was still no serious plan for the wedding. Whenever I asked questions, he accused me of rushing him and told me I could leave if I wasn't willing to wait. Then one day, he surprised me by offering me ₦3 million to end the relationship. When I asked why, he simply said he didn't want me to become a widow.

‎

‎Soon after, he started avoiding me, blocked me everywhere and eventually disappeared from my life. I had no choice but to move on. Then, weeks later, I came across his new Instagram account and there he was at the beach with the same woman he had always called “just a friend.” Suddenly, all the unanswered questions started making sense.

‎If you were in her shoes, would you take the ₦3 million and walk away, or would you demand to know the real reason he ended the relationship?

‎When I arrived at NYSC camp, the first four days were dry. No weed, nothing. I was drinking beer like there was no tomorrow.

‎Then on Day 5, I was walking past the bathroom when I suddenly caught the smell of weed. I followed the smell straight to one of the bathrooms and started banging on the door. Nobody answered. Everywhere went silent.

‎I finally shouted, “Eye wey see must chop o! I must smoke inside this una Igbo!” One of them slowly opened the door. Two guys were inside smoking one joint. The guy looked me from head to toe and told me to come inside while he watched the door.

‎

‎The moment I took my first drag, the two guys were shocked. I hadn't smoked in days, so those five puffs hit me like I had smoked a whole joint by myself. I left that bathroom ridiculously happy.

‎

‎I later tried to get their plug, only to discover they didn't even have one. They were actually smuggling the weed into camp. Omo, NYSC camp really has stories you won't believe.

‎

‎If you were in that situation, would you have joined them for the smoke, or would you have minded your business and walked away?

‎

So this woman is divorcing her husband, and the reason got me really thinking.

The husband doesn't do ANYTHING in the house. The wife does all the cleaning, laundry, cooking, and takes care of the children. The wife thought maybe it's because he couldn't do them and wasn't brought up that way.

This was her consolation.

However, the husband entered the kitchen one of these days and started cooking.

The woman was even happy that her husband had changed and all, only for the husband to package the food to take out of the house. When he was asked who the food was for, he said it was for his female colleague at work who wasn't feeling too well.

This infuriated the woman and demeaned her so badly.

The woman feels if he can't cook for his own wife and family and do anything at home but could, without hesitation, cook for a female friend at work, then the marriage isn't even worth it.

For years, Daniel had one dream: to relocate abroad and give his mother a better life. She was the person who encouraged him whenever things got difficult. When he struggled to pay for applications, she reminded him to keep trying. When his visa was rejected the first time, she told him not to give up.

“Keep going, my son. One day, you will get there,” she always said.

After years of saving, applying, and facing disappointments, Daniel finally secured his visa to the UK.

The day he received the approval, he called his mother immediately. She cried, prayed for him, and told everyone who cared to listen that her son was finally going to make it. But just weeks before his departure, she passed away unexpectedly. Daniel eventually arrived in the UK, but the excitement he had imagined was replaced by a deep emptiness. He had reached the destination they had dreamed about together, yet the person he wanted to make proud the most was no longer there to see it.

He could send money home. He could build a better life. He could achieve everything he had planned. But he couldn't make that first call to his mother again.

Sometimes, the hardest part of relocating isn't the distance, the cold weather, or starting over. It's missing the people you wish could be there to witness your success.

A gentle reminder: Celebrate your loved ones while you can. Share your good news with them, make time for them, and never assume there will always be another opportunity.

‎My neighbour sponsored his 26-year-old younger brother to the UK in 2024. At first, the young man constantly complained about how boring and lonely life was there, but his brother kept encouraging him to stay, telling him he would eventually adjust.
